WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (TX) spoke to The Ripon Society this morning about the November mid-term elections and the legislative agenda this year on Capitol Hill.
In his remarks, Cornyn noted that “the roots of [The Ripon Society] go back a long way in trying to help bring our party back after electoral defeat in the sixties.” He also added: “I think no time in recent history is it more important that we look back but also look forward as a party as we try to figure out not only where our opportunities are today, but what our responsibilities are for tomorrow.”

The Ripon Society is a public policy organization that was founded in 1962 and takes its name from the town where the Republican Party was born in 1854 — Ripon, Wisconsin. One of the main goals of the Ripon Society is to promote the ideas and principles that have made America great and contributed to the GOP’s past success. These ideas include keeping our nation secure, keeping taxes low and having a federal government that is smaller, smarter and more accountable to the people.
