WASHINGTON, DC — The Ripon Society held a luncheon discussion this past Monday afternoon with Nate Hodson, the Republican Staff Director for the Committee on Energy & Commerce, who talked not only about the agenda before the E&C Committee, but the agenda on Capitol Hill for the remainder of this year.
Hodson is a veteran Congressional aide having served in a number of roles for senior members of both the House and the Senate. He worked as the Kentucky Finance Director on Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell’s campaign from 2007 to 2008. He then made his way to Washington D.C. where he served as Communications Director for Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie. Starting in August of 2009, he went to work for a year as Campaign Manager for Kentucky’s Secretary of State, Trey Grayson, in his bid for the United States Senate.
In January of 2011, Hodson joined Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith’s staff as Communications Director. For just over a year, starting in 2011, he served as Director of State & Regional Media Relations for the super PAC, American Crossroads. Hodson has been Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ right-hand man since she was first elected Chair of the House Republican Conference in 2012. For nearly a decade, he has worked alongside the Congresswoman in various capacities, ranging from Communications Director to Chief of Staff. Hodson has been serving in his current role as Republican Staff Director for E&C since 2021.
“Nate has seen a lot and done a lot over the course of his impressive career,” stated Jim Conzelman, the President & CEO of The Ripon Society. “We appreciate him taking the time to be with us on Monday to discuss the agenda of the Energy & Commerce Committee and the legislative outlook on Capitol Hill for the rest of the year. From fighting inflation to preparing for the next pandemic to increasing energy production here at home, the Energy & Commerce Committee is at the forefront of the effort to increase the economic health and well-being of the American people and the American economy. As Republican Staff Director, Nate is helping to lead that effort, and we appreciate having his insights.”
